Water Resources
SME has worked over the past 20 years with NJDEP in permitting both new community supply wells and replacement community supply wells (CSW's).
Clean, available water stands as one of the most pressing infrastructure needs of this new century. Demands for large-scale potable water supplies are intensifying as urban development and pollution impact groundwater resources. At the same time, tighter restrictions on surface water use are forcing the agricultural industry to turn to groundwater supplies to meet irrigation needs.
SME has over 20 years of experience in developing high-yield community and industrial water supplies, water well design, and state and local permitting. We've learned that even before the wells are sited, constructed, or tested, successful water supply projects begin with a thorough understanding of the regulatory environment and permitting process. Our experience in water supply includes:
- Permitting community and industrial water supply systems for clients throughout New England, New Jersey, and Ohio
- Aquifer pumping tests and analysis with emphasis on safe yield and surface water impacts
- Production well design, construction, and rehabilitation
- Sustainable yield and wellhead protection analysis
- Use of innovative technologies to address supply and demand, such as aquifer storage and recovery (ASR) applications
- Development/permitting of spring water
- Pilot-scale treatment studies
- Design and construction administration of water treatment facilities
